NSE IPO Price Band Set at ₹1,700–₹1,785; Listing Set for September 24

NSE has announced a ₹1,700–₹1,785 IPO price band, with bidding from September 17–21 and listing on September 24. The ₹22,568.92 crore OFS has already drawn strong GMP signals.

The long-awaited initial public offering (IPO) of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has finally arrived, with the company announcing a price band of ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per equity share. Investors can apply for a minimum of eight equity shares, with further bids allowed in multiples of eight shares.

Bidding for the IPO will begin on Thursday, September 17, and close on Monday, September 21. The NSE IPO is entirely an offer for sale (OFS), involving the sale of 12,64,36,550 existing equity shares by current shareholders. The offer represents a 5.11 per cent stake in the company.

Through the stake sale, a total of ₹22,568.92 crore will be raised. However, the entire amount will go to the existing shareholders selling their shares, meaning NSE itself will not receive any proceeds from the IPO.

State Bank of India, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Aranda Investments (Mauritius), MS Strategic (Mauritius), The New India Assurance Company Limited, SBI Capital Markets, Bank of Baroda, Stock Holding Corporation of India, General Insurance Corporation of India Limited and United India Insurance Company are among the existing investors and major shareholders selling their stakes through the IPO.

For retail investors, the minimum bid amount in the IPO is ₹14,820. High-income investors can apply for a minimum of 120 equity shares at a price of ₹2,14,200.

For the financial year ended March 31, 2026, NSE reported total income of ₹18,713.37 crore and a net profit of ₹10,302.06 crore. For the financial year 2024-25, the company recorded revenue of ₹19,176.83 crore and a net profit of ₹12,187.69 crore. At the current valuation, NSE's market capitalisation stands at ₹4.42 lakh crore.

The grey market premium (GMP) for the NSE IPO is already showing strength. The current GMP is ₹191, which is around 10 per cent above the upper end of the IPO price band. If the GMP remains at the same level, NSE shares could potentially list at around ₹1,976.

Of the total issue, 50 per cent has been reserved for qualified institutional bidders (QIBs), while non-institutional investors (NIIs) will receive a 15 per cent allocation. The remaining 35 per cent of the shares have been reserved for retail investors. With the IPO structured entirely as an offer for sale, the listing will mark a major market event while the proceeds from the share sale will accrue to the existing shareholders.
